The language B Standard Level (SL) and language B Higher Level (HL) courses are language acquisition courses for students with some previous experience of the target language.
Students develop the ability to communicate in the target language through the study of language, themes and texts.
The language B syllabus is organized into five prescribed themes: identities, experiences, human ingenuity, social organization and sharing the planet.
Grade 10 ICSE 2025 : At Wernicke, we follow the ICSE Grade 9 and 10 French Syllabus 2024-25.
Students cover each chapter thoroughly using various resources including the ICSE, CBSE and the IGCSE syllabus to enrich their grammar, vocabulary, reading and writing skills.
In Grade 9, regular practice on the writing and listening skills, oral assessments and ongoing mock tests prepares them well for their final ICSE exam giving them a sense of confidence and contentment towards the French language.
At the end of this course, you will :
- Be able to write your experience of a voyage that you recently enjoyed, or advice a friend what he should pack for his next adventure to the Alps.
- Speak with the doctor regarding your wellbeing and mental as well as physical health.
- Listen to a telephonic conversation between two friends who are discussing their fitness coach in school.

At the end of this course, you will :
- Write postcards, mails and complete online forms with ease.
- Speak basic french vocabulary with ease and confidence.

The IGCSE French course is a linear, two-year course with no controlled assessment or coursework, working towards four exams at the end of Year 12 in Listening, Speaking, Reading & Writing
